Balcony Decking
At MyDek we specialise in high-quality, non-combustible balcony decking, and in providing solutions for both balcony decking replacement and for new-build balconies tailored for the high-rise community.
Balcony decking provides a safe, durable and attractive surface for residential balconies, apartment developments and high-rise buildings. Whether you’re replacing combustible timber decking as part of a remediation project or specifying decking for a new-build balcony, choosing the right system is essential for fire compliance, slip resistance, durability and long-term maintenance.
Since MyDek’s inception in 2019, our mission has centred on enhancing safety in apartments and high-rise buildings by supplying A-rated non-combustible balcony decking systems featuring superior slip-resistance, durability, and exceptional load-bearing capacity.
Balcony decking remediation
To address external fire safety concerns and protect residents in high-rise buildings, the government introduced new stringent fire-safety regulations for external walls as part of the Building Safety Act. The regulations included a requirement for all residential buildings over the height of 18m need to be built with non-combustible materials, including balconies.
Balcony decking replacement has become a major focus across the UK following these changes to fire safety regulations. Many existing balconies contain timber or combustible composite decking that may no longer meet project requirements.
Replacing balcony decking can improve:
- Fire performance
- Resident safety
- Slip resistance
- Building appearance
- Long-term maintenance costs
MyDek’s aluminium and non-combustible composite decking solutions provide the perfect replacement for non-compliant balcony decking. Our balcony decking systems are A rated for fire compliance with Part B legislation, meaning that we can help building owners and developers ensure that their balcony decking is fully compliant with the new legislation and will last for decades to come.
